As New Mexico celebrates its first Fourth of July as a state, on July 4, 1912, a carload of former Governors gathered for a photograph at Fort Marcy Hill in Santa Fe. Left to right Herbert Hagerman (Governor of New Mexico Territory, 1906-07), Miguel A. Otero (the driver, Governor of New Mexico Territory from 1897 to 1906), William T. Thornton (Territorial Governor from 1893 to 1897) and L. Bradford Prince (Territorial Governor from 1889 to 1893).
