Planning for the NM Centennial has been ongoing since the early part of this century.

Early 2000s     

• Planning meetings and initiatives; Steering Committee formed

2008     

• Executive Order by Governor Richardson establishes NM Centennial Task Force

2009       

• Centennial Office established and Centennial Coordinator hired
• Centennial Logo launched
• Bilingual Centennial website launched
• Planning summit held with Arizona in May, 2009. Arizona’s Centennial is also in 2012
• Community Leadership Meeting held in June, 2009
• 14 initial projects funded
• Community Outreach and Awareness launched
• Project Planning Forms received from state agencies and community organization for inclusion in Master Plan
• Centennial License Plate announced in August, 2009

2010       

• NM Centennial Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization, to be formed
• Fundraising campaigns begin
• Media, PR, and Web 2.0 Campaigns launch
• Centennial Signature Projects launch

Fall 2011   

• Centennial Launch

2012       

• Centennial Day: January 6
